What I'm up to these days
A few folks noticed that it's gotten a bit quiet. I've been under the weather for the last three weeks now, with flu-like symptoms, so I just really haven't been in the mood to do anything really interesting besides vegging out in front of a movie.
On the other hand, I am looking to release a new feature — nay, site — soon. I've been working on sltags.com, which is a really neat way to tag locations and share them with others.
I'm adding the finishing touches to the HUD so people can start using it. The interesting part is that it allows you to upload a snapshot (as postcard), and it'll automagically associate with a location. It also lets you see other snapshots from an area.
And that's also done automatically. Just send in snapshots, and it'll do all the magic on its own. In other words, as the site grows you're able to browse Second Life from the web (in a slightly different way than Snapzilla does).
The most interesting part, I think though, is that it lets you add locations with tags and lets you create "Landmarks" so to say that others can search for as well. In a sense it's almost like del.icio.us for Second Life.
And the interesting thing for other developers is the ability to hook into the tagging script to write their own front-ends. The site will be accessible through APIs in Second Life as well as the web.
Check it out. http://sltags.com/
