Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones

SW:AOTC was a must-see to me, simply because I've seen Episode IV - VI as well as Episode I. There are probably going to be many people that will dismiss this movie as just another George Lucas spectacle with overblown visual effects and bad acting, much like it happened with Episode I. Luckily, it's not as true for this particular installment.

George Lucas is a visual story teller. It's clear that he prefers to show the actual massive battle with spectacular visual effects rather than just have a character talk about it and leave it up to the viewer's imagination to paint their own picture. In Episode IV we had Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Alec Guiness) telling Luke Skywalker about the Clone Wars. Now we actually get to see what all the fuss is about. Plenty of CG animated characters and visual effects, Anakin Skywalker (now played by Hayden Christensen) in his late teens, and Ewan McGregor gracefully aging into a more Alec Guiness-like Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Previously we've known Yoda as a powerful Jedi Master, but never really seem him in action (if for no other reasons, due to technical limitations). In this episode we see Yoda finally use some of his powers and light saber skills, which comes both as a blessing and a curse, because now it is no longer up to our own imagination to see Yoda in the light we'd like to. Many people will probably agree that George Lucas took a bit of the magic out of Yoda by telling us what he is capable of.

Another rather interesting detail is finding out what role Boba Fett plays and what his connection to the Empire is.

That said, I definitely recommend seeing this movie.
